Jack

Digital Painting, 2026

This is the “official” first piece created using Paintsprout. It is inspired by the Animation Academy sketch Cherie and I did at DCA during our May 2026 Vacation. I was testing out Paintsprout’s abilities to create “natural” sketches. It was a foundational piece to prove out the absolute core of what Paintsprout is.

As crude as it is, I love how it turned out. It looks like pencil on paper to me; which was the goal. Most of my art starts as a sketch. So, I wanted to nail down that concept in Paintsprout before anything else. Although I had worked on some of the paint tools by the time I did this sketch, I was only at the proof-of-concept stage with the app before making “Jack.”

Since the PoC was completed and I had proven out that I could create a viable art app for my art tablets, it was time to step back and start building out each feature one at a time. I feel this sketch proves out that I had nailed sketching with Paintsprout.
