Sunset on Fuji

To help cope with personal tragedy in 2021, I revived my love for creating art. This was the first of many canvases I painted beginning in September of 2021. “Sunset on Fuji” was inspired by the Zen I was trying to achieve in that season of life. I had been creating Zen gardens on my desk since sometime in 2020. I continued that through that season of life as well. So it seemed fitting to paint one of the Japanese symbols. As of painting this, my eyes had yet to see Mount Fuji in person. But I have this painting to gaze upon when I need reminding to be awake and present in every moment. The sun had set on a time in my life that was painful. And the hope of the next season was where I found peace at the end of 2021.
