The Sprouts

Today, I have a double header blog entry! I had two main topics to write about today. So, I split them up. They were originally part of a longer entry. And I thought about holding off on this one for another day. But, why what?! hehehe

Note and Paintsprout are coming along nicely. Biblesprout has stalled…LOL With Notesprout, it’s my daily driver for notes. It has been for quite a while, actually. I’m not fully using it for writing yet, though. I’m working on some features at the moment to help with that. Once those features are polished, I’ll be back to drafting blog posts by hand and then converting for publishing. Plus I have other writing that I strongly desire to get going…hehehe

For Paintsprout, I took a step back after the proof-of-concept stage and I’m now working my way towards working on some real art that has been rolling around in my brain. I did a sketch the other day of Jack from “The Nightmare before Christmas.” That’s officially the first sketch from Paintsprout. But the original file is lost forever…LOL I did that on a test build of the app and those files got blown away. I accidentally did that. But now I’m at the stage where I have both a development and stable build. So, I’ll now do official work from the stable build and will backup those files.

Biblesprout is something I use most days already. But I’m sort of in a holding pattern before advancing it as I decide how I want to move forward. Some of its features cross paths with Notesprout. So, do I copy Notesprout features into Biblesprout? Do I move Biblesprout into a feature of Notesprout? Or do I get them to interoperate with each other? Something else to consider with Biblesprout is that it has cross platform uses. How I use it on e-ink is different than what I’d use it for on my phone or on a website. Whereas Notesprout is pretty much only useful on e-ink.

All of the sprouts have their various strengths on each platform, actually. Paintsprout is strongest on a full powered art tablet. Although it could have sketch features on e-ink. Biblesprout would be a great reference tool on my phone and could be integrated for Bible text on my website. Notesprout is great for draft on e-ink while also being able to export to my website. Normally, I’d be overwhelmed with all of these options. However, since I’m using Claude Code to build it all, I can dream that big without getting lost in it all.

I have other app ideas that might get the “sprout” treatment…LOL Anything that helps me grow as a person falls under the concept of sprout. So, not everything I’ll design and build will get that suffix. I love the name. It just isn’t applicable to everything…hehehe Although, Cherie gave me the name idea of Tacosprout…LOL I need to come up with an app that uses that name…hehehe
